Nicolás Carcavilla (b. 1993 in Santiago de Chile) has steadily built a diverse and expansive body of work over the past 17 years, releasing more than 20 full-length albums. His music, deeply anchored in experimentation and improvisation, combines acoustic and synthetic instrumentation with a meticulous sense of production. Themes of science fiction and fantasy permeate his intricate, often automatic multilayered soundscapes, characterized by viscous simmerings, metallic clatter, eerie ambiances, monumental motifs, and broken rhythms that evolve into heroic galloping.
In 2012, Carcavilla co-founded Nonlocal Research, a label based in Santiago and Brussels, committed to releasing unconventional music and serving as the multimedia project Nonlocal Society. Operating from a small town in southern Chile's native rainforest, he directs Galapex-Orpheus Studios & Entertainment, producing both music and film. His first feature film, "The Leather," a supernatural folk thriller, is currently in production.
His works have been released on labels such as Aguirre Records (Belgium), Psychic Sounds (USA), Transamericas (Chile), and KRAAK (Belgium). His solo project, Embassador Dulgoon, along with his duos Timelash and Archimboldos, have garnered critical acclaim. The highly anticipated third installment of Embassador Dulgoon's Wetland Chronicles 12" LP is slated for release in 2025, alongside "The Last Servants," an electronic spoken word sci-fi drama starring the late Kenneth Welsh.
